We are thrilled to announce a remarkable achievement in our athletic program. For the second consecutive year, our Girls Varsity Field Hockey and Soccer teams have secured championships in their respective NEPSAC games.

Pingree School is proud to announce that six members of the Class of 2024 have signed National Letters of Intent, formally committing to play collegiate sports. On November 9, these student-athletes, along with their coaches and loved ones, gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.

Nora Pierce, a senior at Pingree School, has been recognized as a 2023 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. This prestigious recognition is awarded to less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Seventeen-year-old Pingree student Caroline Rogers '23 recently achieved the incredible feat of completing the Boston Marathon, her first-ever attempt at a race that distance. In the process, she raised more than $12,000 for charity.

Pingree School is proud to highlight the accomplishments of its swim team after one of its strongest seasons in program history. "There's a tremendously tight family-type bond that exists between swimming teammates; they push each other and they thrive together," Coach Brian Carver shared. "This is a team primed for continued growth and I'm so proud of their efforts." After qualifying at the EIL championship meet in February, eight swimmers for the Highlanders scored points at the New England Prep School Swimming Association (NEPSSA) championship meet on March 4, 2023. Anabella Zullo '26, Leo Bertone '25, and Kira Nielson '24 earned top-10 finishes at the meet. Bertone earned a gold medal in the 100-yard freestyle event and was honored as a NEPSSA champion and All-NEPSAC First Team. The girls team finished third at the EIL championship meet, where every swimmer on the team earned points in two events, the maximum allowed. Pingree Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs Betsy Kennedy added, "I'm so proud of our Pingree Swim team! Their dedication and determination this season resulted in one of the team's best seasons yet. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this growing program!"

On Thursday, May 4, Pingree School welcomed a new group of 11th and 12th-grade students into its chapter of the Cum Laude Society (CLS). Founded in 1906, CLS is an international organization that promotes scholarship and recognizes academic achievement in secondary schools.

Maddie Landers '23, an impact player on the Pingree School girls varsity soccer team, has been named a United Soccer Coaches All-American and invited to participate in the High School All-American Game.

The fall of 2022 has been an exciting one for the Pingree Highlander athletics program, culminating in three teams winning their New England titles: girls cross country, girls soccer, and field hockey.

On November 9, nine Pingree School student-athletes in the class of 2023 committed to continuing their athletics careers as they transition into college.

Though most teams were forced into an off-year for their 2020 seasons, that doesn't seem to have affected several of Pingree School's programs in athletics and afternoon activities; the girls varsity cross country team brought home the Division 3 NEPSTA championship and after posting an undefeated season, the football team clinched the Evergreen League championship and Mark Conroy Bowl! Congratulations are in order, too, for the varsity golf and girls varsity soccer, winning EIL league and tournament titles. The dance team received the Showmanship Award at the Endicott College Dance Invitational and will continue on to participate in the New York City Dance Alliance Convention and Competition in December. Field hockey and boys varsity soccer put in strong performances in their NEPSAC playoff games. Director of Athletics and Afternoon Programs Betsy Kennedy enthused, "We are so proud of all our fall teams. In spite of the challenges of last fall, our student-athletes demonstrated incredible determination, dedication, and commitment to supporting each other. It was an all-around great season for the Highlanders!" Congratulations to all of our fall programs on a job well done!

Pingree School is pleased to share the names of students who received department distinctions for the 2020-2021 academic year. Students are selected by each department for their unflagging curiosity and passion for the subject, positive attitude, outstanding work ethic, and exceptional achievement in the specific discipline. We are proud of these students' strong scholarship and positive contributions to our academic program.

On Wednesday, May 12, Pingree School inducted the newest members of the Cum Laude Society, a national organization that recognizes academic excellence, justice, and honor. At the Cum Laude assembly, speaker alumna Erin Thomassen '13 reminded attendees to balance wonder and awe about the future-aspirations about who we will become and our greater purpose-with staying present in the now, even during the messy or mundane moments. Congratulations to this year's inductees!

Throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, 22 Pingree School student-athletes accepted offers to play collegiate sports. "We are so proud of this group of dedicated, talented, and hardworking student-athletes and grateful to them and their coaches for all they've contributed to Pingree," said Betsy Kennedy, Pingree's athletic director. "Playing collegiate athletics is an impressive next step in their athletics career, we will continue to cheer them on as they compete at the next level." Ten Pingree School students will proceed to the DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) after a strong performance at the virtual MASS DECA District 3 Career Development Conference held at the end of January 2021. More than 800 students from 13 schools competed at the district level, and we wish the students listed below the best of luck as they move on to SCDC beginning this week!

Congratulations to Aramis Negron '21 and Mackenzie Holian '23 for their success in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! Aramis was awarded a Silver Key for his poetry work Isla de la Orgullosa. Mackenzie was awarded a Gold Key for her journalistic work "William Jefferson Convicted of Bribery; The Proof-All $90,000 of it-Found in His Freezer," a Silver Key for her journalistic work "Harry Styles is the First Male to Appear Solo on the Cover of Vogue-It Seems Like His Outfit Will Make More History Than Styles Himself," and Honorable Mentions for her personal essay and memoir pieces "Love Song" and "Between The Pages."

Student-athletes from Pingree School signed national letters of intent (NLI) on November 11, accepting offers to play collegiate sports in the fall. "We are so proud of this group of dedicated, talented, and hardworking student-athletes and grateful to them and their coaches for all they've contributed to Pingree," said Betsy Kennedy, Pingree's athletic director. "Playing collegiate athletics is an impressive next step in their athletics career, we will continue to cheer them on as they compete at the next level." Recent alumna Caroline Kagan '20, who is completing a postgraduate year at Phillips Exeter Academy, returned to Pingree to sign her NLI. She will be playing lacrosse at the Univerity of Vermont next fall. Twelfth grader Harrison Greenslade will sign his commitment letter to play football on December 16.

Pingree School is proud to announce that five students have been recognized as commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP), which honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. According to NMSP, approximately 34,000 commended students across the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
